ABSTRACT
The
research area administratively located in the Gulf of Lampung, South Lampung,
Lampung Province. The astronomical located at coordinates 105025’
'E-105030'E and 5045'S-5055'S. The purpose of
research is to determine the community structure of benthic Foraminifera Resen
seabed sediments pre-post-eruption of Krakatoa in 1883 in the Gulf of Lampung.
The
method used in the preparation of this paper is to process the samples taken
from the seabed sediments Gulf of Lampung, including sample preparation in the
laboratory, microfauna analysis and data processing.
Gulf of Lampung waters are composed
of clay fraction, fine-coarse sand, to pumice. Pumice derived from the volcanic
eruption on August 27, 1883 Krakatoa in the Sunda Strait, and has been
spreading volcanic material, not only in the Sunda Strait, but also in the
waters of the Gulf of Lampung. The identification and counting benthic
Foraminifera in Lampung Gulf waters consists of three core samples of sediment
subsamples 20th with a total of 32 genera, 63 species and 16.799 spesismen /
individual. Some genera such as Ammonia, Elphidum, Hyalinea, Quinqueloculina,
Sphiroloculina, nonion, Cancris and Bolivina have sufficient number of
individuals who dominate compared to other genera. Results of identification
based test Foraminifera show that in Lampung Gulf is an area that is not good
for the growth and development of the benthic Foraminifera test because a test
found only calcareous represented and dominated by Ammonia genus alone. This is
because the area is experiencing pressures on the environment (unfavorable
conditions) pre –post eruption of Krakatoa product 1883, that have impact to
mode of life, diversity, abundance, domination and distribution benthic Foraminifera in Lampung Gulf
